Neighbourhood teams tackle recreational drug use within the night-time economy

Members of the Wellingborough and East Northants Neighbourhood Policing Teams have run an operation aimed at preventing recreational drug use at licensed premises during the night-time economy.

With the support of specialist drug search dogs and their handlers from ICTS Security Services, the neighbourhood teams visited a total of nine pubs and clubs in Wellingborough, Wollaston and Irchester on Friday, July 25.

During the operation, officers conducted a total of 14 stop searches under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, which resulted in nine individual amounts of drugs seized – two Class A (cocaine) and seven Class B (cannabis).

If you have concerns about drug dealing within your community please report it to us on 101, online at www.northants.police.uk/ro or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
