Parish Council Update: September, 2024

Try it out
There is still a Parish Councillor vacancy that needs filling. Why not attend a meeting and see what you think? Or please do feedback about what would entice you to apply, or what is stopping you applying? There will be a full election of all Parish Councillors in May 2025, so this is an excellent time to try the role before committing in May. No experience is necessary and training is provided. Residents have many different skills to offer to this valuable role and you can help make important decisions on the work and running of the Parish Council. Please do get in touch about it.
Road Safety Grant
The Parish Council is committed to improving speeds on the roads around the village and has recently secured £495 towards a better speed sign (there is money aside from another grant that was not all used), similar to the new one on the A43, and to replace the other one there, to try to reduce the speed of vehicles in both directions. The devices are moveable and so can be placed in other "hotspots" if required.
Pavilion refurbishment
The good work is continuing on the pavilion with help from Councillors and residents, and internal improvements are getting done now in time for the new football season. There is also work being done by Addida Cricket Club, with the help of our Grounds Maintenance Contractor, Kevin Cox, to prepare the cricket wicket for next season.
Thanks to all the volunteers who are helping with the various jobs still to do, under Kevin's supervision, Thanks especially to CIPS for their help recently- see below.
Car park
It is hoped that remedial work will soon begin on the car park, which has unfortunately suffered significant stability problems since it was laid. This will hopefully take place before the bad weather affects it even more and it will be on the September agenda.
Next meetings
The next meeting of the full council is Monday 9th September 2024 at 7pm in the village hall. The planning committee will meet beforehand at 6pm to respond to current applications. Agendas are posted to the notice board in the bus shelter and online www.eastononthehill-pc.gov.uk a few days beforehand.
All welcome to attend.
