Playing Field Car Park - it's being sorted
At long last, (I won't bore you with the details), the car park is going to be improved from its dire condition to something more fit for purpose.
The work will take about a week and will be done by contractors using heavy machinery and taking delivery of lots of hardcore and materials by lorry.
At the moment the work looks like it could start in the middle of next week (around the 6th/7th) and in that time obviously it will be out of action. Parking for a few cars is possible on the Drift but leave enough room for big trucks to get past and turn in and out. You are reminded that The Drift is a Bridleway and your insurance may not cover you for any damage caused and usage is at your own risk. Pedestrian access will be maintained but please take extra care to keep children away from the area and in general keep clear and stay safe.
In connection with the work on the surface we are installing a height restriction to prevent heavy vehicles getting onto the area and will add a fence to create a pedestrian pathway to the playing field entrance so that cars don't block it at busy times. We are also proposing to install some CCTV to deter or detect the "weaker vessels" in our society who get their kicks by destroying and abusing community property.
Bear with us- it will be nice when it's finished! In more ways than one.
