Open meeting for residents on future facilities at the Playing Field

The Playing Field Management Committee invite you along to an open meeting on Wednesday 22/3/23 at 7pm in the village hall. You should have received a letter about it too.
It is important to attend if you can to hear about future plans/options and ways to fund them and to give your views, please.

Do you think the village should have a Neighbourhood Plan?

The Parish Council recently discussed formulating a Neighbourhood Plan for Easton on the Hill. They decided to ask residents for their view.

It will require a group of people with time and ideally the necessary knowledge and skills in areas such as population and housing, planning policy, travel plans, infrastructure, the historic environment, biodiversity, conservation etc to prepare a plan. There are grants available to pay for it, but typically they can take up to 3 years to finish. A recent example to view is for Ketton and Tinwell http://www.ketton.org.uk/ketton-parish-council.../
The benefit in having a plan is having more control over housing and development in your area. Sites can be identified, not dictated. The plan has to be considered locally before decisions are made, although national planning policy can trump a local plan.

Another benefit is financially - if a plan is in place, the residents automatically receive 25% of the CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) paid by the developer of a site in the plan. Eg for 50 houses, the payment to the Parish Council could be circa 100k.
Despite the timeframe and resource needed, they can be very worthwhile projects to protect the village from unwanted development threats in the future.
If you would like to comment and/or get involved, please let the Clerk know, details below.

King's Coronation celebrations
The Coronation Service and procession will be happening on Saturday 6/5/23 and details on how to watch this will be announced soon on the website www.royal.uk
There is then a Coronation Concert also being televised on Sunday 7/5/23.

The village decided not to do a whole village event for the "Big Lunch", nationally set for Sunday 7/5/23. People are free and encouraged to organise their own events and the Parish Council will help if street parties are organised and temporary road closures are required - 6 weeks notice is normally required.

The "Big Help Out" for volunteering is on Monday 8/5/23 - the bank holiday. The Parish Council will be organising a village Spring Clean and planting event - further details will be circulated soon. If you are interested in getting involved, please message me and I will forward your details to the working group.
