|You can't have missed the monster marquee that's gone up in the Blue Bell garden, ready for the big event of the year, the Gala. Looking at the weather forecast we may need the shelter, and just to reassure everyone that all events will continue under cover if necessary, whatever the weather.|
The Gala starts on THURSDAY evening with the opening of the Beer Festival. We have had a great response from local brewers who have promised to come and chat about their beers and their business. Although these things are subject to change at the last moment, we look forward to seeing brewers and representatives from Grainstore (Oakham), Brewsters (Grantham), Bakers Dozen (Ketton), Round the Corner (Melton), Oakham Ales (Peterborough), Framework (Leicester), Digfield (Barnwell), and Nobbys (Kettering) in our cavernous marquee. Come and sample their brews and learn a little too. Should be great night. Please spread the word to any friends from hereabouts who might not have heard about this special beery event.
Friday's "Soul in the Marquee" features a great local band, the Motor City Vipers as well as some classic Northern Soul on vinyl. There's been a few other soul events on recently in the area so we need a good local turnout to defray the considerable costs involved and make sure we have a great atmosphere.
Saturday's Easton's Got Talent programme is looking full. We've had a couple of late additions to the schedule and can now promise a truly great evening's entertainment in the style of 'Old Time Music Hall'. The programme includes a 3 scene play by EATS as well as the usual creative contributions from village groups. The whole things kicks off at 7.30pm but we suggest you arrive early to guarantee a seat. There will be the usual 45 minute interval to allow you to freshen your glasses and get some hot food from Alex, and the whole evening will last for a couple of hours.
Sunday's Free Music festival will not only have 7 bands and plenty of beer and food to go around but there's a bouncy castle for the kids plus a couple of stalls to keep them entertained. All very welcome.
Monday's Fete will include all the usual stalls and games plus what may turn out to be an even dafter display of human/horse interaction than last year. We have our own Horse Trials featuring Show Jumping and Dressage events and well....anything could happen. It will be a hoot.
Don't miss out on the premier social and community event of the year- come along, bring friends, buy raffle tickets, and have some "Fun on the Hill".
