NEWS FROM EASTON ON THE HILL PARISH COUNCIL

New Maintenance Contractor

The Parish Council has recently accepted a quote for the Maintenance Contract and Terry Cowling started at the playing field on Monday 20th April 2026. Terry will be familiar to some of you as he worked at CIPS for many years in health and safety and he will be doing the regular play equipment and pavilion safety checks and some improvements, maintenance and repairs.

(The grounds maintenance/grass cutting contract is separate and unchanged.)

Report, report, report!

It cannot be stressed enough that action cannot be taken by the police unless there are reports made to them of suspicious activity and suspected criminal behaviour.  If they are not aware of issues occurring, they will not investigate or put any resource into policing the area.
There have been increased reports made informally about anti-social behaviour, drug taking/dealing hot spots.
If you are witness to or aware of anything like this, or other criminal behaviour, please do take 5 minutes to report it online (if it is not an emergency)

Resident survey - CCTV FEASIBILITY COMMITTEE — CAN YOU HELP?

The Parish Council is establishing a working group to explore the feasibility of introducing CCTV in key public areas of the village, following the findings of our 2026 Village Residents' Survey.

The survey found that 65% of the 137 residents who responded support the installation of CCTV, with concerns about anti-social behaviour — particularly vandalism and substance misuse around the village centre and playing field — cited as the main reasons.

The committee will investigate costs, suitable locations, data protection requirements, and funding options before reporting back to the Parish Council with a recommendation. No decision has been made at this stage — this is purely an exploratory process.

We are keen to hear from residents who would like to be involved, whatever their view on the matter. If you are interested in joining the "task and finish" working group, please get in touch with Councillor Catherine Kaye; email catherine.kaye@eastononthehill-pc.gov.uk.

Your Ward Councillor

Your Ward Councillor is Simon Fairhall, one of 3 Ward Councillors for the Oundle Ward. He attends the Parish Council meetings when he can and has helped with support for a grant for the new defibrillators recently and support for the change of speed limit on the A43 - he is still involved in helping this cause with potentially other speed control measures and pushing for a change in the petition process. There should be a visit to the village from the Community Protection Enforcement Officer soon, following a new Safety Plan for 2026-2029.
Simon said this about the EOTH Annual Parish Meeting "I am unable to attend tonight because I am hosting a ‘Cluster Meeting’ of 22 Parish Councils & Meeting representatives from across the Oundle Ward.  I will, at this meeting, cite the work that the EotH Parish Council are doing to improve the play provision in the village and the Village Survey as examples of good practice".
Simon can be contacted at Simon.Fairhall@northnorthants.gov.uk

Next Parish Council meeting
This is on 8th June 2026, 7pm at the village hall - all welcome.
