Pond clearance and Spring Close tidy up
A big thank you to all the volunteers and Councillors who helped with this task - it was a great effort and a huge improvement on the area.
Nature Recovery Group
The group continues to work with Rockingham Vision who has helped developed specific plans for the various green areas owned and managed by the Parish Council. This might involve leaving certain sections to improve variety of plants and therefore wildlife habitats, whilst still retaining a managed look.
Grass cutting contract
The Parish Council is soon having to review the contract in place at the moment and obtain quotes for a contract from next season. The specifications are being drawn up for the various areas, including the playing field, and then companies will be invited to quote. If you are interested in this work, please do get in touch with me, the Clerk, details below.
Sports pavilion makeover
It can't have escaped your notice that the sports pavilion at the Drift playing field has had a makeover. This has transformed the building outside and works are continuing inside too. There has been the contractor, Kevin Cox, and some volunteers helping to complete this with great results, just in time for the new football season. Preparation work is also being carried out on the wicket by Addida, with the contractor, for hire and use by the club next season in April 2025.
Grants
The Parish Council has applied for a couple more grants recently - we like a grant or five! One for another speed device to supplement the one on the A43 in the other direction and another to convert the remaining streetlights to LED to save on electricity and maintenance costs.
If anyone has any feedback or suggestions for the Parish Council, please do get in touch.
The next meeting is not until 9th September, as there is generally no meeting in August, unless an emergency planning meeting is required. As always, details are on the website www.eastononthehill-pc.gov.uk
